About The Archway
At Kearney, a huge building seems to float over Interstate 80 while traffic streams underneath. The Archway is a museum built as a bridge across the highway, turning a modern migration route into part of an exhibit about older ones. Drivers see a structure unlike a normal overpass; visitors who stop can walk through the story above the moving cars.
Inside, displays trace journeys along the Platte River corridor, from pioneer wagon routes to railroads and highways. The unusual architecture does much of the storytelling before a ticket is scanned: people still cross Nebraska here, just at a very different speed. The attraction connects that long history to the road visible directly below.
Take Exit 275 and approach by the local access road; there is no entrance from the interstate shoulder. The building and its scale are visible without buying a ticket, while the exhibit charges admission. The operator lists adult tickets at $15 and youth tickets at $7, plus tax. Allow time to stand back for a photograph that includes both the structure and the highway it spans.
