About RV/MH Hall of Fame

Elkhart calls itself the RV capital of the world, and its most wonderfully specific museum proves the point. The RV/MH Hall of Fame follows recreational vehicles from homemade camping contraptions to polished motorhomes, presenting them along an indoor road designed to resemble a campground.

The collection includes more than sixty vintage campers, trailers, and motorhomes. Among its standouts are a 1913 Earl Travel Trailer, the oldest known survivor of its kind, an early Winnebago, a remarkably small Airstream, and a 1931 Chevrolet Housecar associated with Mae West. Visitors can peer into compact kitchens, foldaway beds, wood-paneled cabins, and clever mechanical solutions devised decades before modern RV design settled into familiar patterns.

The museum is open year-round, although hours change between summer and winter and special events can limit access. Its Elkhart location includes generous parking designed for travelers arriving in the very vehicles the museum celebrates. Overnight boondocking is available with a museum visit, while paid seasonal hookups are offered separately.
