About National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum
Milwaukee contains a museum where almost everyone inside is nodding.
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is devoted to the spring-necked figures that have represented athletes, mascots, entertainers, politicians, fictional characters, and subjects far too obscure to expect their own tiny wobbling statue.
Co-founders Phil Sklar and Brad Novak began collecting bobbleheads in 2004. Their hobby expanded dramatically, eventually leading to a permanent museum that opened to the public in Milwaukee in 2019. The collection now numbers in the tens of thousands.
Display cases allow visitors to trace the strange history of bobbleheads while moving through an enormous variety of designs. Sports figures make up a major portion of the collection, but the museum also demonstrates how almost any recognizable person, character, animal, or mascot can eventually be converted into a head attached to a spring.
There are museums where visitors nod thoughtfully while viewing the exhibits. Milwaukee built one where the exhibits do the nodding themselves.
