Trenary Outhouse Classic

Teams push homemade outhouses through snowy Trenary in a midwinter race.

The tiny Upper Peninsula community of Trenary has made a winter sport out of racing outhouses. Crews build lightweight privies on skis and push them down a snow-covered track, often in costumes and with elaborate themes.

The classic is usually held in February. Dress for a Michigan winter and check the organizer for this year’s race details.
