National Lentil Festival

Pullman celebrates the humble lentil with giant-batch chili, chef demonstrations, sports, a parade, vendors, music and a full day of Palouse food culture.

The National Lentil Festival began in 1989 to celebrate a crop strongly associated with the Palouse region of eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Lentils remain the star of the event, most famously through the festival’s enormous communal lentil chili tradition and food-focused demonstrations.

Reaney Park fills with food and artisan vendors, live music, children’s programming, sports events, a beer and wine garden and festival activities, while the Grand Parade extends the celebration into downtown Pullman. The next festival is already announced for August 21, 2027.
