North Carolina Pickle Festival

Mount Olive celebrates pickles with free samples, eating contests, a pickle derby, rides, music, vendors and a downtown spring street festival.

The North Carolina Pickle Festival grew from Mount Olive’s close relationship with the pickle industry and has been held since 1986. Downtown streets become a celebration of both the town’s agricultural connections and its best-known food product, with enough pickle-themed attractions to make the subject impossible to miss.

Visitors can expect free pickles, live entertainment, food and craft vendors, carnival rides, children’s activities, a pickle eating contest, the Pickle Derby and other changing attractions. General festival admission is free and no ticket is required, although rides, food and separately registered activities may cost extra. The latest confirmed edition was held in April 2026.
