About Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano
One short trail climbs the rim of Bandera Volcano, while another leads down to a lava-tube cave where ice persists year-round. The contrast is the draw: a volcanic landscape above and a cold, blue-tinted pocket below.
The site is a privately operated stop near Grants, with self-guided walks and uneven steps. Wear shoes with grip and expect the cave descent to feel markedly colder than the surrounding desert. Check conditions and current admission before the drive.
