About Republic of Molossia

Drive into a Dayton neighborhood and you may encounter a border crossing. The Republic of Molossia is Kevin Baugh’s self-proclaimed micronation, complete with a customs station, post office, flag, and official-sounding institutions. It is an elaborate, long-running project—not a country recognized by the United States.

The small nation’s humor runs deep. Its visitor rules list onions, catfish, incandescent lightbulbs, and even walruses among prohibited items. Bring a passport if you want a novelty stamp, though the official visiting guide says one is not required.

Molossia is also the Baugh family’s home. Visitors must RSVP for one of the scheduled escorted tours; unannounced drop-ins are not permitted. The tour is short, and the official site posts dates and instructions for requesting a place.
