About Otto the Otter
Otto the Otter stretches 40 feet across Adams Park, grinning over Grotto Lake as the world’s largest otter sculpture. He is both a town mascot and a delightfully literal salute to Otter Tail County.
Fergus Falls high-school students built Otto in 1972 for the city’s centennial, shaping a concrete-covered metal frame under the guidance of their teachers and a local metal artist.
The statue is free to visit in a public park with picnic tables, a playground, and lake views. Visitors are asked to admire Otto without climbing on him.
